How to wash down products
Close all zippers and Velcro fasteners. Remember to remove the alpaca fur before putting the coat in the machine (the fur cannot be washed). Use about a third of the usual amount of mild detergent, or preferably a special down soap that can be purchased in most sports stores.
Wash at 30 ° C on a gentle cycle. Rinse the product at least five times to get rid of all detergent. The product should not be in the centrifuge for more than thirty seconds before it is placed directly in the dryer. NB! The product must be dried immediately after it has been washed in a machine. If the product lays in water it will start to smell. Set the dryer to the lowest temperature and make sure that it does not exceed 50 ° C.
To ensure that the down does not lose its insulating quality, you should add three to four tennis balls in the dryer. Take the product out of the dryer every twentieth minute.
Please note that it takes a lot of time before the product is completely dry.
Note: The alpaca fur must be removed before washing.
Maintenance of alpaca fur
It is recommended that the fur is brushed from time to time. If the fur has lost some of its fill due to rain or snow, a hair dryer can be used.
How to wash merino and silk products
Merino- and wool underwear can be machine washed at a 40 ° C wool program using mild detergent. Wool underwear stays the best if it is washed in a washing bag. The garment should not be washed with sharp objects like zippers.
The best way to dry a woollen garment is to roll it in a soft towel, gently push the towel and then let it dry lying flat on the top of the towel. Wool should not be dried in direct sunlight as this may cause the natural lanolin to dry out and the fiber’s quality deteriorates. Wool is a living natural product and thus has the ability to get rid of odour through aeration. If you regularly wipe your wool product, the need for washing is reduced.
How to wash cashmere and silk products
Cashmere is a delicate material and should be treated accordingly. When washing, use the wool program at 30 ° C and use a detergent without enzymes and bleach. Put the product in a laundry bag before loading it into the machine. Please note that jewellery, zippers and other sharp-edged items may damage your garment. The best way to dry a woollen garment is to roll it in a soft towel, gently push the towel and then let it dry lying flat on the top of the towel.
Maintenance of leather products
Leather clothes are of high quality and require special care. Always keep your leather in a cool, ventilated area to avoid drying and mildew. Never use plastic bags as storage, and always allow wet clothes to air dry away from heat. Since leather is very prone to stains from sweat and body oils, be sure to protect vulnerable areas using scarves and shirts with sleeves. Stains should always be cleaned as soon as possible.
