We do not support the farming of fur. The fur we use is exclusively from animals that die of natural causes.The alpaca stock live their entire life up to 3,600 meters above sea level and have to contend with harsh weather conditions that are hard during the rainy season The temperature varies from 20 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees below freezing. Strong hail storms with balls of ice occurs relatively frequently . Unfortunately, as a result of the tough climate, mortality amongst the younger animals increases. The adverse weather conditions cause 15% of baby alpacas to die between 0-3 months.
Instead of producing artificial fur, it is important for us to use the natural resources that are available. We therefore support the farmers so that they can earn money even at loss of an animal. Business-wise, the best solution for an alpaca farmer is to make money on alpaca yarn from animals that can be sheared for up to 20 years
